(and later edited out, "has anyone seen the other half of my doob? Man, I got tha munchies")
Well, let's give the Dell guys some credit. They managed to introduce many adolescent boys to the magic of internet porn. However, they did it in the most banal of ways, with plenty of bloatware, and 1000 free minutes of AOL, and other completely useless shit. And it's all cooped up in a case that might be plain black or silver, or on older models, a kind of ecru that resembles the background color of this very site.
We who were inclined toward computer engineering had other ideas. You see, for the very same price of that briefly famous stoner's Dell, I can go to my local Big Box retailer, and buy all the components to make a computer that's faster, more capable, and has only the stuff on it that I need, thereby freeing up money for other things, like hemorrhoid medication. But now we still have the same black or silver case. What to do? Get out the dremel, and get to modding. Or how about putting a computer in a toaster? Or an 8-bit Nintendo? there literally is no limit.
http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/ has some great examples.
The one that our young McHanslaw linked to is a fine example.
But my money for the most beautiful case mod, if only for the attention to details and intricacies and man hours involved is the one here: http://www.extremetech.com/slideshow/0,1206,a=167099,00.asp
Simply beautiful.
Take these as inspiration, good viewers, and go make something worthwhile.
Oh, and get off my lawn.Jouda Mannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10967008357522758045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8195435534225374196.post-63350406207262405672009-03-02T08:08:00.000-08:002009-03-02T08:08:00.000-08:00For more steampunk awesomeness, head to Datamancer...For more steampunk awesomeness, head to Datamancer.net and check out my friend's work.Septimus39https://www.blogger.com/profile/01973958912657319661noreply@blogger.com
